In addition to the proposals being proposed nationally, state legislatures are pushing for more restrictions. Illinois tried first, in a quick move over a weekend, but got shut down by a huge call in campaign.
New York legislators managed to actually ram through the most restrictive laws that I've seen. Conecticut, Rhode Island, Virgina, and even Kentucky are pushing for more restrictions also.
And now California.

Yep... as I posted in one of the other threads:

..and now... California just can't let New York outdo them... and of course Mayor 'V' - from LA - just HAS to get his mug on the photo op...

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57568322/calif-lawmakers-seek-toughest-gun-laws-in-nation/

...and with Governor Moonbeam - well - it was just a matter of time. Should be interesting to see how this affects the viewpoint of the 'law-abiding-citizens' of Cali? Well of course if all of these 10 Bills actually pass... and the Gov' actually signs them.  Turning law-abiding folks into criminals - with a mere flick of a pen... Should be interesting... depressing... but interesting.

Of course it should also be interesting to see if they'll be using things like are you a member of {fill in the blank} - well - anything that is supportive of the Constitution (State and Federal), or organizations that are against obtrusive government. (Hmm I don't think Code Pink is included, or the Communist Party USA or such like - but I could be wrong). I suspect if you are a former or current member of the military - well - you're definitely on the list. It'd certainly give a job to Homeland Security to go check and knock on your door - you know they do have all the ammo now. Besides it'd give them something to do. Especially since the border is a - well - a non-issue of course. It's all those 'soon-to-be-former' law-abiding citizens that are the problem. You know the ones that are clinging to 'guns, God, and rock and roll'...- not those 'illegal' folks crossing the border of course.

Brings up another interesting thought - wonder if instead of checking if you have 'vegetables or fruit' coming into the State - if they'll be checking if you've purchased ammunition or some 'dastardly' item of personal destruction - you know - a new writing pen (of course)... or God-forbid a computer that links to the net... OH the HORROR!...

All the Very Best! ... ARGHHH!

I was just posting this, (and about this), calling it to the attention of friends and family on facebook.  They held their press conferences up in Sacramento while the rest of the State was focused on news involving Christopher Dormer. <spit>  Copies of their pressers are on Youtube - but more importantly the details of their actual proposals are available on-line.

While it is no surprise to see Sen. Hancock and Sen. Steinberg trying to "out-do" Feinstein and Boxer - what is troublesome is their out-right confidence that they can push this stuff through the Democrat controlled state legislature.  The left-wingers are going to lead the liberals through this period by the rings in their noses.

Rather than enforce existing laws and actually doing something about violent criminals, along with guns in the hands of folks known to be mentally disturbed - they choose to propose more laws, which will make good citizens criminals for being in violation of them.  Come on - turning possession of a hollow point bullet into a felony???

As much as we love it here, they may finally have found the key to make this old boy "secede" from their insanity.  While some arrived in the 20's, most of my family came here as a result of the great depression.  We *can* leave and take our tax dollars to a place that practices what *we* believe in.

Welllll you can leave at the moment... with these yahoo's and their desire to put their collective hands in your bank accounts...  and not relinquish control... I wouldn't be surprised if they pass some legislation to question folks leaving the State... 'show your papers'... kind of thing... or how about 'search your vehicle' - while you're still on the Cali-side of the border, that way if you had 'inappropriate' firearms [if they pass all this stuff] they could arrest you, and use it as an excuse to confiscate all your property (potentially) using the mantra - 'it's for the children'... or the equally nauseous... 'it's for the greater good' (but they conveniently leave out 'for who').

Many apparently consider the  Constitution (State and Federal) is like the 'pirate code' of Pirates of the Caribbean 'more of a guideline than a set of rules'. In short I have NEVER seen such ludicrous behavior in my lifetime. So I agree with you in part - perhaps seceding to other States might be appropriate... but... sometimes taking a stand here might actually work IF enough decide they've had enough of this nonsense. They might actually decide to vote more 'sanity' into the legislature. I know - wishful thinking...

Every evening at sunset we look west from Arizona and see the steam rising Shocked.  And from my perspective the water has been boiling for so long that most of it has evaporated to the point that Californians are now more representative of Vec's frog in the well  "The frog in a well does not know of the great ocean (i no naka no kawazu taikai wo shirazu - Old Japanese Maxim)"

The anti gun lobby in Cali has been gaining momentum in bits and pieces since long before I left 24 years ago.  No one seemed to care because it looked like it was focusing on the bad guys.  Now the kids who were elected to lead propose to legislate the good guys into bad.  I've heard that they are even proposing a bill to add a special tax on those that leave the state.  And today I hear that drones are to be used to search for this Dorner guy.  If the past is any gage of the future you'll likely see drones fill the sky in the not so distant future.  Unfortunately there is also a national momentum in the same direction, so moving elsewhere may only extend the inevitable a little longer.

I feel for you brothers as I have many friends and family there in Cali who are under the same oppression  Cry .  You'll be in my thoughts as I go about my business today in a state that allows me to openly carry with minimal restriction.  Separated geographically only by the Colorado river but politically by a million miles.  Be safe out there brothers,  Ken

Ken, Yep... it's getting 'curiouser and curiouser'... as Alice said to the white rabbit... 'tis a pity too.

Love that Governor Rick Perry came to Cali - citing comparisons of the business climate in Texas versus Cali - and of course Gov. Moonbeam and his minions (much like those in movie Despicable Me - no thought process - but do their 'master's bidding) go about attempting to discredit and attack the messenger - 'cause they sure as heck can't trump the message.

I wouldn't be surprised at all - with the State Legislature passing something to penalize those those that decide to leave - or at least trying to get into their pockets. The State Franchise Tax Board (State's IRS) did go after those that retired and moved to Nevada and elsewhere - attempting to tax their retirement pensions. Their justification - 'you made it in California - so we're entitled to our share because you didn't pay taxes on it - even though you no longer live here ?!?  Some were stupid enough to pay... most didn't... a couple sued and won - so Cali- dropped it (well at least for now).

As the legislature and Gov' - get more and more desperate (latest ploy - 'we're in the black'... yeah right!) and begin lying with even more passion... it should get interesting...

Your right Alan, the Colorado river is deep indeed, but it is quite possible to still swim across     Grin

MMI, I'm thinking we may just be witness to the impending, most curiouser time in all of man's history.

Try to find a little humor in it all,  Grin  Ken

Well said Ken! Though I'd prefer boring times to these interesting ones...
